Stephen Mark Dobbs
Stephen Mark Dobbs is a native San Franciscan, educated at
Stanford University. During his early career as a professor,
he taught the "San Francisco" course at San Francisco
State University. He was also a visiting professor at Stanford,
Harvard, University of London, and University of Washington.
Dobbs is the author of seven books and more than one hundred
articles. His most recent book, co-authored with Burt Nanus,
is Leaders Who Make A Difference.
Dobbs' second career has been in philanthropy. He was senior
program officer at the J. Paul Getty Trust in Los Angeles,
CEO of the Koret Foundation in San Francisco, and president
of the Marin Community Foundation in Larkspur. Dobbs currently
serves as executive vice president of the Bernard Osher Foundation
and as executive director of the Taube Foundation for Jewish
Life & Culture. Dobbs' third career has been as a volunteer
in the San Francisco community, having served as president
of the Mount Zion Health Fund, One Act Theater Company, Brandeis-Hillel
Day School and on the board of directors of Guide Dogs for
the Blind, Institute on Aging, Jewish Community Federation,
and San Francisco State University Foundation. Stephen Dobbs
